In a narrow and central street in downtown Malaga, we were tasked with the rehabilitation of an 18th-century mansion in a Cultural Interest Heritage (BIC) environment, transforming its use into accommodation. The project’s objective was to carry out an interior redistribution while respecting the original configuration of a structuring courtyard with a gallery, characteristic of buildings from this period.

The facade, also protected for its mural paintings and wrought iron closures, undergoes a complete restoration. Due to the poor state of conservation of the building, a new metal structure reinforces and coexists with the large brick load-bearing walls and existing high wooden ceilings. All these elements are, at times, exposed in the interior space, revealing the layers of the passage of time.

In addition to the large reception courtyard on the ground floor, the standout feature of this property is its roof, offering magnificent views of the cathedral.
